Lund 18802 Interceptor Bug Shield

Quick and easy install with no drilling required. There are three expansion plugs that you need to insert into existing holes on the underside of the hood along with two pieces of double sided tape attached to the shield to help hold it in place.

Also included are four soft plastic bumpers that the instructions say to stick to the outside of the hood and behind the shield probably to prevent contact between the shield and the hood.

The instructions are not clear on the purpose of the bumpers, There appears to be an adequate amount of space between the shield and hood to prevent contact and I never had bumpers on any of my prior bug shields.

I'm not too keen on sticking these little plastic bumpers to my paint so stuck them to the rear of the bug shield.

In all it looks to be a solid method of installation but there is a problem.

With the shield installed I have begun to hear strange noises sort of like the sounds of h eavy rain drops or if you will, like someone is throwing hand fulls of cherry pits or some similar light small objects at the windshield. I checked to see if the plastic bumpers were contacting the hood but there is no evidence of that.

This sound occurs on back roads and on expressways - not sure what it is.

I'm thinking of returning it to Amazon for a refund.

The Lund Hood and Bug shield fit great! Very easy to install! Glad I went with the clear as it blends so nicely with the truck.
